We sent our required application form, documents, and fees to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services today! We’ve heard many different predictions for how long this part of the process will take, so we’re just going to try to get the rest of our paperwork done as quickly as possible so that it’s ready to go when we get approved by USCIS. We’re also moving forward as though the funds are available to submit our Dossier. We’re trusting God to provide in His perfect timing.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the process, the next step is to get fingerprinted by USCIS, and then wait to get our approval from them to adopt a child internationally. After that, hopefully our Dossier (fancy name for all of our paperwork) will be ready to be finalized and then sent to Ethiopia. Then we’ll be in our waiting period, waiting for our referral of our daughter. It is estimated right now for that wait to be 2+ years.
My husband did the math last night and figured out that we’re right at 25% done with our fundraising at this point. That leaves a long way to go, of course, but we were encouraged about such a significant chunk already having been earned/raised/provided. Thank you so much for everyone who has pitched in. It has been really amazing to see our community pulling together to support us. We are humbled and thankful right now!
